Because of the major flooding issues all over the world, there is a major concern about mold growing in homes and businesses. Mold is a health hazard and it can grow anytime there is moisture, especially when you combine it with the summer heat. There are a few different ways you can remove and kill mold by using household items that are more than likely already in your home. This article will give a general look at some mold killing products you can use to help stop the growth of the dangerous bacteria.

One very common product that is used to kill and remove mold is chlorine bleach. Because of the vapors that are released by the bleach, it is suggested that you do it in a well ventilated area and wear some kind of protective mask to keep from inhaling them. You can use bleach to kill and remove mold from nonporous areas, but it does not get into porous materials to kill the bacteria under the surface.

Another useful household product that will help control the growth of mold is vinegar. There is no need to dilute the vinegar; it will be safe enough to use full strength.

There is another product that does not have any kind of fumes that can be used for removing mold. Borax is toxic if you swallow it but it is safe to breath. This product is used for cleaning clothes and does a wonderful job at stopping mold in its tracks.

Ammonia is another product that is very useful in clearing mold from a nonporous surface. Because it does put off very strong fumes and dangerous vapors, it is suggested to dilute the solution by adding the same amount of water as there is ammonia.
